Civil Engineering Department was established in 2010 with intake capacity of 60 with a vision of developing young dynamic Civil Engineers. Though Civil Engineering is one of the conventional branches in engineering it has still retained its position in the creative and modern world of today. This is due to all-round development in housing, urban development, transportation, water resources, water supply and treatment, sewage treatment. The contribution of civil engineers to society is undoubted and well established. Civil engineering is identified as a key discipline that deals with the design, construction and maintenance of the entire physical and naturally built environment. Civil engineers are basically engaged in the design and construction of various public works including canals, water reservoirs plants, hydropower dams for irrigation and domestic water requirements, modes of transport i.e. roads, bridges and railways that accounts for the need of economic growth of any country. At large, the progress of any country or civilization depends directly or indirectly on civil engineering.

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
Diploma Graduates of Civil Engineering Program shall,
PEO 1. Provide socially responsible, environment friendly solutions to Civil engineering related broad-based problems adapting professional ethics.
PEO 2. Adopt state-of-the-art Civil engineering broad-based technologies to work in multidisciplinary work environment.
PEO 3. Solve broad-based problems individually and asa team member communicating effectively in the world of work.
PROGRAMME SPECIFIC OUTCOMES
PSO 1. Construction Planning and Designing:Perform optimal Civil engineering construction, planning and designing activities of desired quality at optimal cost.
PSO 2. Construction Execution and Maintenance:Execute Civil engineering construction and maintenance using relevant materials and equipments.

Welcome to the department of civil engineering, it is an honor for me to welcome the keen learning generation of modern India to a prestigious dorm of knowledge. The department program is focused on providing not only the technical knowledge but also to encourage the student to be more innovative. The order of questions in the mind of students of this era has shifted. The first question in their mind is not ‘what’ anymore its ‘why’. Why learning particular concept is important, what role this knowledge will play in their future. The department emphasizes the development of technical skill and critical thinking. We in NIT POLYTECHNIC NAGPUR aim to foster an interactive teaching environment. The teaching philosophy of institute is to ensure the environment is making the learner grasp the knowledge. The feedback system in the interactive session helps in analysing each student adaption and gripping ability.
The department has been able to foster this distinguished approach with the help of the staff has excellent credentials and a promising outlook. The faculty is well groomed and has publications in multiple journal and conferences proceedings. It gives me immense pleasure to lead such a prestigious and complete department in every manner.
